Start Audacity and import the file you would like to improve by dragging it to the main work window pane or by using the import option located under the file menu of the program. However, it is possible to significantly improve the sound of a recording by following a simple process. Even professional music editors can't remove every trace of static in all recordings. Depending on the level of static, it may not be possible to remove all crackling and popping.
To remove the static using Audacity, you will have to follow a few basic steps to locate, identify and eventually eliminate the static. Static in an audio file is never appreciated.
